No Nonsense Rwandan Commandos Kill DRC Soldier Along Border, Arrest Two More As Regional Conflict Evaporates!

Rwanda said on Tuesday it had killed a soldier from Democratic Republic of Congo and captured two others on its territory in the latest friction on their border.

The Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) said in a statement the Congolese soldiers crossed at Rubavu town, with one shot dead when he fired at a patrol and the other two arrested.

“This morning at 0110hrs, three armed soldiers of the Democratic Republic of Congo armed forces (FARDC) crossed the border from the DRC into Rwanda at Rubavu District (in Rubavu Sector/Rukoko Cell/Isangano Village),”

“Two of the soldiers, Sgt Asman Mupenda Termite (30 yrs) and Cpl Anyasaka Nkoi Lucien (28yrs), were arrested by RDF patrols supported by local neighbourhood watch (Irondo). The FARDC soldiers had in their possession one AK-47 gun, four magazines with 105 rounds, one protective vest, and cannabis sachets. The third soldier was shot dead when he fired at the patrols.''

Congolese military spokesperson Sylvain Ekenge said he was unaware of the incident.

Kinshasa has long accused Kigali of backing M23 rebels, led by members of the Tutsi ethnic group, in eastern Congo, who last year launched a fresh offensive in an area near Uganda, forcing more than 1 million people to flee.
