At least 15 people have died in a road crash at the Twin Bridge area along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway - Kenya.
The Tuesday, January 9, road accident that occurred at about 2:45am involved a bus belonging to Classic Kings of Congo and the North Ways shuttle.
In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) said its officers from Mau Summit Police Station were responding to the scene.
The injured were rushed to Molo Sub-county Hospital.
"The National Police Service is appealing to all motorists to exercise extreme caution on our roads to prevent road crashes," the statement reads in part.
Kuresoi North police boss Judah Gathenge said all passengers in the matatu, which was heading to Nairobi, lost their lives.
The bus was travelling from Nairobi to Kampala, Uganda.
The deceased include eight adults and seven children, among them five girls and two boys.
Members of the Kenya Red Cross joined the Nakuru county fire brigade, the county ambulance, and the Kenya Police at the site.
Earlier, five people were confirmed dead and several others injured following an accident at Mlango Tatu area along Nakuru-Eldoret Road.
In a statement on Thursday, January 4, the National Police Service disclosed that the accident happened in the wee hours of the night.
The police reported that three people died at the scene of the accident that involved multiple vehicles, including a Mitsubishi bus and a Toyota Probox.
"NPS Officers from Timboroa Police Station are responding to a tragic road traffic accident that claimed 3 lives on 04/01/2024 at about 0140 hours at Mlango Tatu area along Nakuru-Eldoret Road. Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident involved a Mitsubishi bus and three other vehicles, including a Toyota Probox," read the statement in part.
